The Texas-based airline said that it will pre-order as many as 250 aircraft, subject to certain future milestones and terms, as part of the its Vertical investment. It has an option to order 100 more as well, American said.

American said it also expects that through a private investment in public equity deal it will invest $25 million in the company.

Vertical, which is based in the United Kingdom, is making a zero-carbon aircraft called the VA-X4 and aims to do the aircraft’s first test flight later in 2021, American said.
