31 equity mutual funds offer over 50% returns in one year

Around 31 equity mutual fund schemes have offered more than 50% in one-year horizon, an analysis by ETMutualFunds showed. There were around 245 equity mutual fund schemes that have completed one year in the market.

These 31 equity schemes were from small cap, value fund, mid cap, flexi cap, multi cap, ELSS, large & mid cap, focused fund categories. Around 10 small cap schemes offered more than 50% in one year horizon. Seven mid cap funds, four value funds, three flexi cap and multi cap, two ELSS, one large & mid cap and focused fund featured on the list.

Bandhan Small Cap Fund, the topper in the list, offered 70.32% in one year horizon. Mahindra Manulife Small Cap Fund offered 67.56%.

Nippon India Small Cap Fund, the largest scheme in the small cap category based on assets managed, offered 55.90%. HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund, the largest scheme in the mid cap category based on assets managed, offered 52.16% in one year horizon.
ETMutualFunds also compared the performance of these schemes with their respective benchmarks. Out of 31 equity mutual fund schemes that offered more than 50% in one year, 21 equity schemes have managed to beat their respective benchmarks.
HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunities Fund gave 52.16% in one year compared to 54.70% by its benchmark (Nifty Midcap 150 – TRI). Nippon India Small Cap Fund offered 55.90% against 65.58% by its benchmark (Nifty Smallcap 250 – TRI).
Franklin India Smaller Cos Fund offered 55.65% against 65.58% by its benchmark (Nifty Smallcap 250 – TRI). The other underperformers were ITI Small Cap Fund, Invesco India Smallcap Fund, Nippon India Growth Fund, Sundaram Small Cap Fund, HDFC Small Cap Fund, WOC Mid Cap Fund, and HSBC Small Cap Fund.
We considered all equity categories such as large cap, mid cap, large & mid cap, multi cap, ELSS, flexi cap, focused fund, contra and value fund categories. We compared the performance of these schemes with their current benchmarks.
