The WLOX First Alert Weather Team is closely monitoring a tropical wave designated as Invest 91L. According to the National Hurricane Center it is located in the eastern Atlantic and has a high chance for development over the next 2-7 days.
There is strong support form forecast models that invest 91L should reach tropical depression or tropical storm strength by this weekend. The system is expected to continue moving west around the southern edge of a ridge of high pressure centered to the north over the central Atlantic. By early next week 91L will be near the Lesser Antilles.
There is a lot of uncertainty on how strong this will get and how far west it will go. It is too early to say if this will impact the US. If it does present a threat, it would not be until 10-14 days from now.
