Sydney Uni told to ditch defence and security from investments

Sydney University should divest itself of revenue-earning interests in the defence and security space and make human rights the foundation of all decisions, according to an external review of its investment strategy.

The review, initiated by Sydney University vice chancellor Mark Scott during pro-Palestinian encampments last year, recommends the university immediately offload assets that produce revenue from the government’s Defence and Strategic Goods List, which covers items subject to export control laws.
